Research Attachment @ ICES
Student training forms an important part of ICES' activities.
Working closely with the A*STAR Graduate Academy, the Institutes of Higher Learning and the Junior Colleges, the ICES participates actively in the training of students in support of A*STAR's mission in manpower development for Singapore. To develop a meaningful experience for the students, suitable staff are actively selected not only as supervisors but also to serve as mentors for them. Students at different academic levels spend varying periods of time with our researchers on projects that appeal to their interests.
Types of research attachment programmes:
(A) Industrial Attachment (I.A.)
For: Undergraduates from either local or overseas universities as well as students from the Polytechnics. I.A. may or may not be a requirement of their course.
Duration of attachment: Ranging from 4 weeks to 6 months.
(B) Postgraduate Student Attachment
For: Graduate students from the local universities who are co-supervised by ICES researchers for the completion of their thesis.
Duration of attachment: Up to 2 years.
(C) Youth Science Programme Junior College Student Attachment
For: Junior college year 1 students
Duration of attachment: At least a month, usually during school vacations.
